Wake Interactions of Two Tandem Semisubmersible Floating Offshore Wind Turbines Based on FAST.Farm

نویسندگان

چکیده

Wake effects commonly exist in offshore wind farms, which will cause a 10–20% reduction of whole power production as well 5–15% increase fatigue loading on the turbine main structures. Obviously wake interaction between floating (FOWT) is more complicated, and needs careful assessment prerequisite for active control (AWC). The primary objective present research to investigate detail how inflow condition, streamwise spacing, turbulence intensity, shear influence performance, platform motion dynamic structural FOWT. FAST.Farm, developed by National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), was used simulating two tandem FOWTs different conditions. Comparisons were made conditions performance dynamic, presented through both time frequency domain analysis. Damage equivalent loads change interference under typical working discussed summarized. Half would pose many challenges downstream These studies can be incorporated into further farm models, providing applicable AWC strategies reduce higher energy longer life

On the Modeling of Spar-type Floating Offshore Wind Turbines

In this paper an overview about floating offshore wind turbines (FOWT) including operating conditions, property and applicability of the barge, tension-leg, and spar floating platforms is described. The spar-floating offshore wind turbines (S-FOWT) have advantages in deepwater and their preliminary design, numerical modeling tools and integrated modeling are reviewed. Important conclusions abou...

SHM of Floating Offshore Wind Turbines— Challenges and First Solutions

The paper presents an integrated SHM-system for floater, moorings, tower, nacelle and rotor blades. Its core is based on a multivariate SHM-system for rotor blades with three different measuring techniques accompanied by appropriate signal processing approaches:  Acoustic Emission (AE) is used for identification of relative small damages at the whole blade, e.g. bursts of fibres, cracks of bon...

Performance analysis of individual blade pitch control of offshore wind turbines on two floating platforms

Individual blade pitch state space (IBP SS) control and disturbance accommodating control (DAC) that reject wind speed perturbations are applied on a 5 MW wind turbine mounted on the barge and tension leg floating platforms for performance comparison in above rated wind speed region. The DAC used in this study is simply an IBP SS controller with a wind speed disturbance rejection component. For...

CFD Modeling of the wake interactions of two wind turbines on a Gaussian hill

One part of the solution to the problem of climate change is the use of wind energy for electricity generation. Onshore wind farms usually consist of a number of horizontal axis wind turbines closely spaced in clusters and they are often sited on complex terrain. Various models have been developed in the past to estimate the wake effects and optimize the siting of a wind farm, but they were mai...
